Susanna’s Children’s House

Island of Rhodes, Greece

Susanna’s dream has been to care for the homeless children of Europe. The beginning was a strawbale and natural material house where children could be raised on the land away from dense metropolitian areas. The first house was built much like traditional Greek country houses using strawbale walls, rather than traditional stone walls, and a earthen roof supported by canes laid over wood beams. Interior and exterior walls were lime covered earthen plaster over the straw bales.
