Between 1994 and 2000 Chris Stafford actively encouraged building contractors and professionals and consumers to be more selective about what materials and products went into workplaces and residences. An invited speaker at national and regional conferences he talked about:
- What poor air quality does to building inhabitants
- How resource depletion destroys our environment
- Which better choices are available for building, and living thoughtfully
During this time he also was giving workshops around the country educating educators, practitioners , government agency staff, and building owners.
